ChatGPT's ability to generate text across various domains has creators at every marketing and content generation level producing a record content volume as they transition from creative writers to prompt engineers leveraging AI tools to craft everything from emails to the next great American novel. Most creators are beginning to experience what it feels like to cross that last item on the task list for the first time since social media was crowned Queen. While the ability to produce content with quick input for some means more time to hang by the pool and less time crafting the perfect form email, it may mean retirement altogether for some — words, that is. In this article, we'll "delve" into the list of words that stand to become obsolete due to overuse in Chat GPT outputs.

Navigating - Navigation, navigate, and navigating were all on my favorite list of words to use well before Chat GPT came along. I even coined the phrase "brand navigation" to describe the unique capabilities of a brand-focused strategic marketing plan. However, given the input to produce email copy, webinar titles, or a quote for a press release, Chat GPT 9 times out of 10 is included in the output. This means that now when I use the words navigate, navigation, or navigating, it is likely to appear in most outputs of the over 200 million active chat GPT users. It could be better if I want my content to stand out.

Meticulous—In my brief history of Chat GPT users, I believe every output longer than five words included "meticulous." This made me wonder if it is the style of input, the code that produces the output, or the preferences of other users that cause "meticulous" to find its way into nearly every output. Whatever the cause, it has me avoiding the use of the word altogether and suspicious of any content I see that does.

Elevate: When prompted with a request, ChatGPT often explores the depths of language, diving into the complexity of expression to provide insightful responses. Words like "embrace," "elevate," and "unwavering" form the backbone of its vocabulary, each carrying its connotations and nuances. While undeniably useful, these linguistic staples may eventually be a tell-tale sign of AI usage and find their way onto Google EEAT's naughty list, sending URLs to the back pages of search engine results.

Explore the Possibilities - Imagine receiving multiple emails from different sources, all with the subject line: Explore the Possibilities. While the subject line may have once enticed your audience to open the email, overuse in Chat GPT has created a scenario where these phrases clearly indicate that they are AI-generated. The human mind is trained to feel reassurance when it recognizes authenticity, then disconnects from content, reducing open rates and affecting sales.

ChatGPT uses a prediction model or code to determine which words to present in an output. By nature, prediction models, no matter how quickly they are "learning," are wired to lead to uniformity eventually. Whether it's your personal user inputs or other users' inputs that lead to the homogenization of AI-generated content, we know that it could contribute to more homogenous content across all communication platforms, which presents a real opportunity for those who genuinely think differently to stand out.
